President's Message: April 2022

April 27, 2022

With the arrival of spring, we find ourselves reviving past relationships and planting brand-new roots in the anticipation of a year filled with growth and opportunities. The connections we foster today create opportunities that will grow in the future.

Did you know as a CREW Member you have access to over 150 Commercial Real Estate related organizations to build relationships with, throughout THE WORLD? Check it out through your CREWBIZ portal,

At the local level, one of our primary goals at Edmonton CREW is to support our members and create opportunities for connecting by offering programs to enhance experience and gain knowledge while in a safe space. In the second quarter of 2022, Edmonton CREW offers several education sessions surrounding topics such as CRE insurance management, mindfulness and resiliency, and pivoting business during unpredictable change. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Edmonton Real Estate Forum CREW Mixer in May, the CREW Kelowna Retreat on June 2nd, and our annual Golf Skills Clinic in mid-June. Our volunteer committee members work hard to organize these events and we encourage our members to attend and recognize the value of these experiences.

I strongly believe in holding space. Holding space for someone (or yourself) is the idea of taking the initiative, being empathic to another person’s circumstances, and being present with that person from an emotional intelligence perspective. Allowing someone to communicate strong emotions, ideas, and beliefs in a nonjudgmental supportive environment helps support growth. Ultimately, it’s about offering people the opportunity to be seen and heard. Being intentional about ‘being present in the moment’ and providing someone with your undivided attention will help strengthen and nurture your relationships in CREW and beyond.

Taking that leap of faith, expressing your ideas, and voicing your beliefs is not for the faint of heart, it’s how Entrepreneurs are born! May we all be fortunate enough to have someone ‘Hold Space’ for us and give us the gift of time; that’s how great ideas are achieved.

I am thrilled to lead such a remarkable organization and look forward to the next few months as we take on new challenges and build new relationships. I look forward to connecting with each of you throughout the spring season.
