Speakers from both the Province of Alberta and the City of Edmonton will provide an overview on the framework of the cannabis legalization followed by a discussion on the specific rules within the City of Edmonton. Learn how the legalization of cannabis will impact commercial real estate in Edmonton.
Melissa McKinley is the Director of Planning with the Alberta Cannabis Secretariat within the Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General. She has been with the Government of Alberta since 2005 and has worked in a number of areas including information management and technology, organizational learning, strategic planning, governance, legal services and legislative development. Her current role is to lead the development of legislation required to support policy decisions made by the Government of Alberta in response to the legalization of cannabis in Canada.
Madeleine Baldwin is a Principal Planner. She has worked at the City of Edmonton for six years in the areas of neighbourhood planning, land development, and Zoning Bylaw implementation. Among other transformational Zoning Bylaw projects, Madeleine is currently responsible for designing and delivering public engagement, and providing technical expertise to the development of the Zoning Bylaw changes to accommodate cannabis retail stores in Edmonton.
