Kimberly Watson, Risk Advisor, Lloyd Sadd Insurance Brokers Ltd.
I chose insurance as a profession out of High School and am passionate about what I do. After graduating from Grant MacEwan University's Insurance and Risk Management Program, I completed my FCIP and CRM designations. I spent 20 years in a variety of claims related roles that include specializing in commercial and liability claims as well as roles within leadership.
In the past year I was excited to bring my related experience over to Lloyd Sadd and work as a Risk Advisor within commercial lines. I am dedicated to helping others navigate the complex world of insurance. I believe in building strong relationships with clients to truly understand their business needs. This allows me to design and manage custom insurance and risk management programs that help build even stronger organizations. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, or corporate professional seeking risk management support, I am happy to help!
In addition to insurance, I am an enthusiastic real estate investor and began purchasing property at the age of 21. I’m drawn to the industry and want to stay informed on what’s happening in the market.
Outside of work I love to spend time with friends and family and stay active with spin, yoga, and golf. I also like to check out the awesome events, festivals, and restaurants that Edmonton has to offer!
What advice would you give your younger self, just entering the commercial real estate industry?
Your mind is powerful and thoughts shape who we are and who we will become. Trust the process, whether it’s with starting a new role, trying a new career, or even buying or selling property. Understand that there will be difficult times and it will be ok. It’s normal to go through those times when taking on a challenge. Take those experiences and learn from them.
You don’t have to share names, but was there someone that stands out that positively impacted your career in commercial real estate? Care to share a bit of the story?
I’ve worked with several leaders over the years and it’s amazing when you feel supported and empowered. There was a woman early in my career who really inspired me with her positive energy. I think of her often, especially when facing obstacles. The outcome is often dependent on how we choose to react to the situation. She motivated me to apply for challenging roles and ultimately shaped the trajectory of my career.

New members – What are your top three reasons for joining CREW / what do you wish to get out of this membership?
- The collaboration I’ve seen at the events is incredible. It’s exciting to connect with likeminded people and learn how we can support each other in this industry.
- I am an advocate for women’s advancement in the industry. I love that CREW is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity through mentorship, business development, and networking opportunities.
- Expanding my horizons within the city. Edmonton is a great city to live and work in and CREW helps to promote businesses through their events. Just last week we went to a little Greek restaurant that was amazing, and one I would not have known about otherwise.

I spent 6 months in Central America and love adventure type travel. While there, I was able to commit a ton of time to learning Spanish and still love to work on that. Travel is my love language.
I also bartended at a martini bar for a couple of years in my early 20s and can make a mean martini!
