  • History & Accomplishments

The Edmonton Chapter of CREW was formed in February 2010. Since that time we have advanced greatly in our efforts, successfully attracting and retaining a wide ranging membership that represents over 25 disciplines within Edmonton’s Commercial Real Estate community.

Edmonton CREW has created an exclusive and balanced membership that embodies executive, senior, intermediate and junior (associate) level professionals, building depth in our industry by way of offering mentorship, career development, and leadership succession.

Responding to the needs to our members, we have developed programs and events that have focused on education, professional advancement, mentoring and relationship development, assisting in creating business opportunities that have resulted in revenue generation for our members!

Being the newest and fourth CREW Chapter in Canada, we have worked diligently to promote and profile our members and our mission, establishing Edmonton CREW as one of the premier business groups in Northern Alberta and earning the respect and support of our commercial real estate community.

  • Our Founders

In the spring of 2008, Carla Voss, a Real Estate & Business Development Manager with Canadian National Railway Edmonton, attended a golf tournament where she sat with a former Colliers colleague from Vancouver who regaled the value an association that supported women in Commercial Real Estate. That conversation peaked Carla’s interest greatly. As a result, she attended the CREW Vancouver golf tournament, where she was exposed to some amazing women, many of whom were formidable leaders in Commercial Real Estate.

That inspiration served as the impetus to her bringing together a group of women who discussed forming a CREW chapter in Edmonton. In 2008, having garnered the support of 17 other women, all of whom were decision-makers and leaders that represented range of disciplines within the commercial real estate arena, they spearheaded the formation of North America’s 71st CREW Chapter – the 5th in Canada. In January of 2010, Edmonton CREW Network officially chartered, attaining astounding support by way of sponsorship and membership within that first year.

  • "CREW has afforded me the opportunity to develop relationships with very talented Alberta women in the Commercial Real Estate arena and share what I know and learn from others in CREW. Business is based on relationships and I have made many because of my involvement in the fabulous organization." Kathy Johnston Umbach, Senior Associate, Interior Designer, Stantec Architecture Ltd.

“CREW Network has made an indelible impact on my personal growth and development. Not only has it opened my mind to limitless global opportunities across diverse disciplines in commercial real estate, but its top-notch conference speakers and educational programs have given me plenty of “A-HA!” moments. It’s my hope that Edmonton CREW will bring that extraordinary level of mentorship and leadership training to our next generation of industry professionals.” Christine Zwozdesky, RPA, Principal, Alexson Solutions Inc – Real Estate Services, University of Alberta

“My fellow Edmonton CREW members supported me greatly when I commenced my new business in 2009. My first contract came by way of one of our Senior Member’s and since that, time I have continued to develop rewarding relationships through the various avenues offered to me by our CREW. This has resulted in a tremendous amount of personal and business ROI.” Cindy Nicholls Smith, CPC, MHCS, Principal, AVID EXEC Ltd.
